Reference > What Is > What Is The Security / Privacy Of Email

Email as a general rule is not encrypted and therefore is vulnerable to viewing by anyone with the proper access. This means that any administrator that works at your service provider can in theory view your email.

As an email travels, it bounces from server to server leaving a copy of your email behind that can also be read. So the morel of the story is, don't put anything in an email that is confidential unless your email is encrypted.
