Mail Gateway A Computer that connects two or more e-mail systems and sends messages between them.
Mail Server Software and hardware that takes actions based on the address of the message. The software distributes the mail in response to requests.

Noise A disturbance that tends to interfere with the operation of communication devices.

Off-line The state of a computer that has had its connection to the network severed or a printer that has had its printing terminated.

Operating System (OS) The program that controls a computer's hardware and software
