A sluggish computer can be the results of a few things. It could be signaling hard drive problems, it could mean that your computer just has too much stuff on it, or it could mean that the programs you are installing just need more resources available. We have compiled a few things you can do to speed up your sluggish system.

How to speed up your sluggish computer

  1. Go to the How To section titled "How to free up drive space on your computer" and start by freeing up space on your system.

  2. Go to the section titled "How to clean your regisitry" to give your registry a cleaning.

  3. ScanDisk is a good utility for finding and repairing problems with your hard drive.

    To execute ScanDisk go to the Start Menu / Programs / Accessories / System Tools / ScanDisk.

    Run a thorough Scandisk on your system and make sure that the "Automatically Fix Errors" box is checked.

    ScanDisk should be ran regularly for safe computing.

  4. Disk Defragmenter is a good utility for speeding up computer disk operations.

    Run Disk Defragmenter by clicking on the Start Menu / Programs / Accessories / System Tools / Disk Defragmenter.

    This should also be ran regularly to keep your system's performance high.

  5. If you have less than 128MB of RAM you might want to consider upgrading to 128MB of RAM.
